Applying for property for rent in Auckland (tenants tips)

At Chase Property Management we understand how frustrating it is as a tenant with property managers not responding to you with regards to the rental properties that you inquire about or apply for.  We really do understand, and we actively try to get to every potential tenant that applies.

We are only human, and occasionally as property managers we make mistakes, often we are totally overwhelmed by the number of applicants for a given rental property, If we have 30 people apply for one property, and often have several listed, you can understand our predicament.

If you are applying for a property here are a few tips/thoughts to make the process easier, faster, and hopefully ensure your success:

When your applying for property for rent in Auckland, it helps your property manager if you send thru a little about your selves and the applicants who will be living with you, include things about your work, your current situation and why your moving, and what you’re looking for in case there are other rentals available or soon coming up for rent. (Any property manager is far more likely to respond to a detailed email than “I want to view, when can I?”)

Always include your contact details, phone number and email, and the names and contact details of the other applicants you intend to live with, that way if we cant get you for a viewing, we can try one of your fellow applicants.

If everyone with you is equally motivated to get the property, it helps to fill out and send thru applications right away, (or bring them to the viewing with you).

If you are sending applications thru, the best approach is to send all of them in one email, we understand that this is not always possible, but it does make you look organised and co-ordinated.

If you are young/ don’t have suitable references/ have poor credit, then you will need a guarantor, so find someone who would vouch for your stability and trustworthiness, and get them to sign a deed of guarantee for you, when you have successfully completed a term in tenancy you will then have a good reference to apply for your next property!

If our property managers haven’t gotten to you, please call or email us!
